Help will always be given at Hogwarts to those who ask for it.

On April 14, at 7:30 pm, I asked you to help me raise $7,500 so that my beagle, Scout, could have emergency lung surgery that could potentially save her life. She'd been in critical condition for days and while the lung surgery wasn't even close to a sure thing -- in fact, the doctors weren't sure she could even make it through the procedure -- it was her only chance to live. In less than two hours, you raised the money. By 3:00 the next day, Scout had two of her lung lobes removed.

And now here we are, just a few days later, and she is trotting around ICU at the hospital, wagging her tail and eating as many dog ice creams and chicken treats as the doctors will feed her. Her chest tubes and feeding tubes have been removed. She hasn't had a fever since the moment she came out of surgery. She's breathing like a champ. And she's coming home tomorrow. Tomorrow!

In the next few days, I'll be updating you on her progress here on this blog (so I can stop spamming your Twitter and Facebook feeds), and I'll also be telling you the full tale of Scout's life, so you can appreciate even more what a remarkable thing you've done by saving her.

Also, in the coming weeks, I would very much like to reach out to each of you individually. If you donated to Scout's GoFundMe Campaign, if you spread the word about her on social media, if you wished her good thoughts and prayed for a miracle, please email me at scoutssurgery@gmail.com. If you'd like to include your physical address (which I will keep very safe), I will snail mail you a packet including: the details of how I used the money you donated, a personalized thank you from me and Scout, and a little treat so you can show off how you're a hero.

I will never, ever forget the way you lifted up me and Scout. It's a story for the ages.
